Guide to HGV Training Prices

Are you looking to start a career as an HGV Driver? If you are then it can be important to know what most of the training costs will be. You should be aware that each of the training centres will vary, which is why the following information will explore the costs based on a range rather than a set number. These are averages of the HGV training prices you may encounter. Based on the average you can expect that some places may be more or less than the range provided. It will also depend on the amount of training you may have already had. For example if you have had CPC courses a few months earlier you may not need to include that in your HGV Cat C training.

You should be aware that the UK has changed their regulations recently. There is a new law in effect with regards to CPC training. Anyone who is an HGV driver has to go through CPC training before 2014. They also have to come back every five years to get the training again. For new drivers the CPC training is a must and will have to be taken as part of the other HGV training or as a separate course before one can be hired. Given these new regulations you will probably be interested in what the HGV courses are with the CPC training attached, but we will offer both levels of costs to help you out.

HGV C Cat without CPC training will range from 1050 to 1375 pounds. If you need the CPC training as part of your overall learning the course can be 1375 to 1600 pounds. You also have other licences you can obtain like the HGV Cat C+E. This licence will be 925 to 1150 pounds for the 5 day practical training which is one of the reasons it is less, but keep in mind the courses can vary from company to company. Another option is the HGV Cat C and Cat C=E which is 1975 to 2350 pounds without the CPC. If you have CPC as part of this training you are looking at spending 2350 to 2600 pounds.

The above are the averages as we have explained before. It is important that you understand the different training programmes and licences so that you have the appropriate one for the vehicles you plan on driving for a company.
