Back in 2000 when I was looking for my first car, I decided to buy my Subaru because it was neat and compact, with a small engine and low running costs. I was just out of university, struggling along in my first job, and the second-hand three-door little car was the best I could manage at the time.

Although I’ve since moved on from that job and am now paid a respectable salary, out of some bizarre kind of loyalty to my first car – which, in all fairness, has never caused me any great problems – I refused to sell my Subaru and kept it as its value depreciated and it became less and less practical. But since it continued to run, I also reasoned that there was no reason to look for a new car, employing the maxim, ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.’ I don’t do many long journeys so didn’t feel justified in shelling out for a new car, with all the the associated financial and environmental costs. I figured I’d just run it into the ground and hold onto it for as long as I could.I decided to sell my Subaru Impreza when I took it into the garage for its last service. When I realised that the money I would need to spend on it over the next couple of years to ensure it kept passing its MOTs would be greater than the value of the car itself, I bit the bullet and looked for a Subaru buyer. Selling my Subaru was a sorry decision but it made no sense to keep pouring cash into a car that was ultimately destined for the scrap heap – I might as well cut my losses and buy a newer car that would need less maintenance and would, in the long term, save me money.

I used the classified ads in the local paper both to sell my Subaru and look for a new car. It was a new experience for me; I had bought my first car from a family friend as I knew he was giving me a good deal and it would be in good condition, so I’d never had to negotiate the endless questions of model, age, space, safety record, fuel efficiency, price and colour that confronted me when I scanned the listings. In the end I decided my requirements (five door hatchback, no more than five years old), and made a set of fairly arbitrary decisions to narrow it down further.

I had several inquiries from people wanting to buy my Subaru, though one or two were put off when they saw it. I did everything I could (within reason) to make it more attractive, from the obvious clean and polish to replacing the worn old windscreen wipers and filling it with petrol as an incentive. I finally found my Subaru buyer – a student looking for a first car, who wasn’t too worried about the long-term potential as long as it got her to the end of her course. I felt it had found its rightful home and was pleased that I’d managed to get something for it, even if it wasn’t much.

Since its introduction in the auto market in 1989, the Subaru Legacy has attracted the attention of many car buyers not only for its good looks but also because of its reliability and performance. For the 2008 model year, the Japanese automaker gave the Legacy a mid-generation upgrades.

On the outside, the Japanese auto manufacturer changed the front end of the Legacy. Although Subaru changed the looks of the front end of the car, the change is subtle. Among the changes made by Subaru to the Legacy are the headlights, revised grille and the new side mirrors. On the rear end of the car, changes were made to the rear bumper and taillights. With the changes dome to the front end of the Legacy, it no longer looks exactly like the Subaru Outback. The changes though could not hide the similarity between the Outback and the new Legacy. Although some critics labeled the Outback and the Legacy as bland in design, there are also those who claimed that the clean lines of the Subaru Legacy is one of its strong selling points.

The powerplant of the Subaru legacy also received upgrades. The engine of the current generation Legacy is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder boxer engine. The upgraded engine provides mid-range torque thanks to the modifications made to the cam timing of the engine.

According to Subaru, the Legacy’s engine can produce as much as 170 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. That power is adequate enough for the power need of the midsize car. Another engine available with the Legacy is a turbocharged version of the boxer engine. The turbocharged engine can produce as much as 243 horsepower and 241 lb-ft of torque.

A new feature for the Legacy, specifically for its drivetrain is the improved five-speed automatic transmission. Following the trend in the auto industry, Subaru gave their automatic transmission a paddle shifter. Precision engineered, the Subaru Legacy’s five-speed automatic transmission has a shifting time of 0.2 seconds, that time is considerably less than the 0.6 seconds shifting time for the previous transmission.

One of the most notable features of Legacy even previous models is its handling. Subaru engineers have been developing suspension systems for the Legacy which gave it good handling and steering responsiveness. With that, the Legacy can handle tight cornering even on high speeds.

Aside from the upgrades given by Subaru to the new Legacy, its looks and performance can be improved by using Subaru aftermarket parts. But even without the aid of these components, the Legacy with all the upgrades given to it by the Japanese carmaker is enough to make the Legacy worth every cent spent on it.

According to auto industry experts, the new Subaru legacy is a positive step for Subaru. The new Legacy is seen as the one to usher a new era for the Japanese auto manufacturer in terms of competing with established nameplates. The midsize Legacy is directly competing with the Toyota Camry, the Honda Accord and the reigning North American Car of the Year, the Saturn Aura. With the improvements made on the Legacy, the nameplate is on its way to being a serious competitor in its segment.

World popular Fiat Business has been started off through the every bit as popular Italian inventor Giovanni Agnelli within 1899. Although she seemed to be incredibly gifted founder there were virtually no money in order to push start off this kind of business, consequently that business was started out using numerous buddies which invested with this through the start off. Giovanni led the company to get very best portion of his particular daily life, and also ended up being still chief executive of the company if she passed on in 1945. The business was began while Fiat 3 ½ CV with nearly practically nothing seeing that capital. One particular aiding hand intended for Giovanni ended up being his correct hand man Vittorio Valletta, exactly who additionally became involved in the growth from the brand in the later decades. .

1st Fiat Vehicle seemed to be made throughout 1900, and has been genuinely a new custom work to state the particular minimum. This particular portion involving only 8 vehicles appeared to be created by 50 percent areas. Any Fiat staff gifted the particular vehicle the general construction as well as power plant, although the particular team through popular maker Alessio of Turin offered this entire body connected with automobile. This particular 1st auto ended up being fairly comparable so that you can and then popular brand name Benz. This was absolutely no coincidence, the majority of the style, and production team has been considered form the actual Benz creation vignoble. This kind of seemingly very humble vehicle was just 697 cc, the tiny proportion from the power which a single finds around today’s autos. The very best thing for the Fiat group was initially that they can identify buyers present in the United States. With this particular order exported to help U.S. the company as well found a hungry market inside at the same time.Fiat Cars started to show up in the American capitals in the premature portion of 1900s, as well as the majority of these individuals started off in order to substitute this mount driven carriages as modern mean of move. At this stage presented the business leadership status inside market with almost simply no significant inexpensive auto brewer. This particular good lot of money live through designed for almost 3 10 years plus 1910, once the firm seemed to be branching in order to The united states it had been at the same time market director during car area around Europe as well.

Fiat America seemed to be started off by using opening up of verger in Poughkeepsie, NY, within the 1913. Operating type of this specific automobile resituate had been very rustic nearly similar to a foundry because there was no set up line procedure launched while yet. The particular set up lines findings were started out after a few years later on from Ford Motors during 1913.

Although a lot of these cars weren’t innovative by simply almost any criteria, this is high time period for your firm. These people have been with the leading edge connected with engineering then as well as their costs regarding $8,600, a new car might attest to in which. You can see the distinction on this should you evaluate which will price on their initial design being $825, simply just 3 a long Fiat Cars time back. This unique wonderful duration of Fiat historical past lasted designed for subsequent twenty decades, along with during the 1920s this became your foremost Italian auto brand by using 80 percent market place reveal.

Despite its relatively smalal scale of operations when put alongside Toyota, Honda continues to be Japan’s most interesting auto maker, Asia’s response to the European techno-house of Audi. Its IMA, for example, is a truly practical petrol-electric car, and the NSX continues to be the best supercar that no body has heard of. In between these comes an everyman range of cars, from the simple elegance of its Jazz city car through to the Volvo-rivalling Accord Tourer.

There is also 1.0 litre insight, a strange-looking little hybrid car that, since the introduction of IMA, has fallen out favor. A neat two-seater sports car that feels distinctly European in execution. Honda has some really interesting products in the pipeline, which promises sparkling performance allied to outstanding economy. ACCORD/TSX Offered in both sedan and Touring (estate) variants, the sculpted Accord is a far more substantially-sized car than it looks at first glance; this is particularly the case with the stylish Touring version.Quite and comfortable and with a suspension system more geared as much to ride quality as it is sporting handling, the car has winning fans at a rate which is surprising even its advocates within the company. A choice of petrol engines-2.0 and 2.4 litre units with respective outputs of 155PS and 190PS and the 2.2 turbo diesel, a fine piece of engineering that was long awaited; Honda’s engine designers set themselves very high standards which took time to meet. CIVIC Honda’s mainstay model is produced in 3-and5-door body shells, with a choice of engines and transmissions, and like its smaller stable mate Jazz, displays a high level of interior flexibility that generates considerable customer satisfaction. Recent upgrades to the styling (new lights, revised bumpers) have helped keep the look fresh, and the range has been added to Type S, which slots in between the mainstream petrol model and the stunning hot hatch Type R; that later car is fastest-accelerating car in its class, finally rectifying the one omission in Honda’s small car range. CR-V Honda’s response to the mid-sized 4×4 of Suzuki, Land Rover and the Mitsubishi, CR-V is a competent, solid-feeling multi-purpose player. Chunky in appearance yet surprisingly pleasing to drive, the machine is available only with the 150PS, 2.0 litre four cylinder engine.-though there is a choice of manual or automatic transmission. As with the HR-V, the car can be run in either front-drive or four wheel drive formats. Handling is as clean as can be expected in this class of cars, and the ride quality is good too; there is a tendency for the car to wander at high speeds, but that is symptomatic of most sports utility vehicles.

JAZZ This car is a masterpiece of flexible design, managing to provide accommodation for five adults-and an incredibly efficient package of seating flexibility which would allow three adults and a wardrobe into the car at the same time.-without taking up any more road space than is absolutely essential. Early cars suffered from a slightly jittery ride but indicating Honda’s ability to quickly change production, this has since been remedied and the car now rides smoothly. There is only one engine option-a zippy little 1.4 litre four cylinder-but this can be matched to either manual of constantly variable transmission, and there is also a Sport version offered which offers sharper handling.
